LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

We’re continuing our work to better serve Eastern North Carolina by advancing education funding, enhancing public safety, investing in infrastructure, and overriding more of Governor Cooper’s vetoes.

LENOIR COUNTY MANUFACTURERS

I had a great time speaking at the Lenoir County Manufacturers Association luncheon. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with our local manufacturers and hear about the important work they are doing to create jobs and grow our economy. Special thank you to Global TransPark’s Trey Cash & LCMA President Rob Burgin for the invitation.

BASEBALL IS BACK IN KINSTON ⚾

The Down East Bird Dawgs will be the newest addition to Grainger Stadium, continuing our city’s 75-year tradition of professional baseball. As part of the Frontier League, this new team will bring economic growth and entertainment for our community. A big thank you to local leaders and the dedicated efforts of Cam McRae for keeping baseball alive in Kinston. Go Bird Dawgs!

100% PRO-FREE ENTERPRISE RATING

I’m truly humbled by this recognition from the NC FreeEnterprise Foundation. It’s a privilege to support our local businesses and work toward creating more jobs in our communities.

NEW EMS SUBSTATION COMING TO POLLOCKSVILLE

It was an honor to speak at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Emergency Services Substation in Pollocksville. This project marks a significant step forward in enhancing emergency response times and ensuring the safety of residents across Jones County.

I’m proud to have secured $2 million in state funding for this facility, in partnership with Senator Brent Jackson and Senator Michael Lazzara. Together, we are making sure that even our most rural communities have access to the life-saving services they deserve. Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this project forward.

ENDORSED BY STATE EMPLOYEES

I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) — which represents 46,000 state employees and retirees who work together to advocate for their rights, pay, retirement, and health plans.

Our hardworking state employees are the backbone of our government, and their dedication keeps North Carolina moving forward. I look forward to continuing our work together to support and advocate for the needs of those who serve our state every day.

ENC GOES BACK TO SCHOOL

Welcome back to school, students, teachers, and staff! To celebrate the commencement of the academic year, we joined together with Jonathan Britt, Commissioner J Mac Daughety, Senator Bob Brinson, and Commissioner Keith King to deliver a delicious breakfast to the staff at Pink Hill Elementary School. We wish a year marked with success for all schools in Lenoir, Greene, and Jones counties!

IN MEMORY OF FIRE CHIEF GEORGE SMITH, JR

It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of Retired North Lenoir Fire Chief George Smith, Jr.

Chief Smith was a founding member of the department and served as the first Fire Chief from 1965 to 1985.

His leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact on our community.
