LEGISLATIVE RELIEF FOR WESTERN NC
Western North Carolina faced incredible devastation after Hurricane Helene, so we took swift action in the General Assembly to pass a $273 million relief package as a first step in helping them recover. From rebuilding roads and water systems to supporting schools and small businesses, this funding is helping the hardest-hit communities get back on their feet.
Then, we came back and passed $644 million in additional relief, bringing us to nearly $900M in state support for Western NC recovery, including:
$139M for water and wastewater repairs to get clean water flowing again
$100M in local government assistance to keep services running smoothly
$102M for schools & colleges, covering building repairs, student resources, tech, and food
$50M to help local small businesses reopen their doors
$71M for mental health, utility assistance, and child care support
This funding for recovery would not be possible were it not for a decade of investments we’ve made into the state’s Rainy Day fund — keeping us afloat when natural disasters impact our communities. We’re making sure no one is left behind in this recovery effort, and remain committed to rebuilding a stronger WNC!
CAMPAIGN COVERAGE BY NEUSE NEWS
I recently sat down with Neuse News to discuss my campaign for re-election. We talked about some of the key accomplishments from my time in office, the challenges we’ve faced, and my goals for the future of Eastern NC. Check out the full interview to hear directly from me about the issues that matter most to you. WATCH HERE >>>
Neuse News also published a written profile of our campaign for re-election, available here! It’s been a privilege to serve District 12, and I’m ready to continue the fight for lower taxes, housing affordability, and enhanced infrastructure for our rural communities. I’m committed to continue working hard for the people of Lenoir, Greene, and Jones Counties and appreciate all the support from our constituents.
NEW E.B. FRINK MIDDLE SCHOOL
We marked a major milestone with the groundbreaking of the new E.B. Frink Middle School in La Grange. This $57 million project, funded through a combination of state grants and local investment, is a shining example of what we can achieve through collaboration. The new facility, set to open in 2026, will provide a state-of-the-art learning environment for our students without adding long-term debt. Thank you to everyone involved — this is a great step forward for our schools and our community!
ENDORSED BY THE NC POLICE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION
I’m honored to have earned the endorsement of the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association (PBA). Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe, and I am proud to stand with them. In the General Assembly, I will continue to support policies that ensure our officers have the resources, training, and respect they deserve.
VISITING THE LENOIR COUNTY FAIR
We had a great time at the Lenoir County Fair! It's always wonderful to see the community come together to experience the rides, games, and delicious food. There’s nothing like supporting local vendors and organizations while enjoying fun for the whole family!
ENDORSED BY NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION
I’m humbled to have earned an "A" Rating and the endorsement of the National Rifle Association. As a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment, I will continue to defend the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners in North Carolina and ensure the safety of our communities.
NEW UNC HEALTH NURSING LABS
Recently, Lenoir Community College celebrated the naming of two nursing labs in honor of UNC Health Lenoir! This partnership strengthens healthcare education and training opportunities for our local students. Even better, a new scholarship program has been launched, paving the way for future nurses right here in Lenoir County. Together, we're investing in a healthier future for ENC!
HUMPHREY NAMED "JOBS CHAMPION" BY NC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
As we face the challenges of inflation caused by reckless spending in Washington D.C., our state continues to stand out as the land of opportunity. North Carolina is better prepared to weather economic storms because of our strong business climate, and I’m honored to receive this recognition for our work to create more jobs.
ENDORSED BY NC SMALL BUSINESS COMMUNITY
I'm proud to have the endorsement of the NFIB! Small businesses are the backbone of our state, and I’m committed to championing policies that help them succeed. By supporting our entrepreneurs, we create jobs, boost our local economy, and build stronger communities.
