Dear Neighbor,

Eastern North Carolina has always been home for me, and it’s a privilege I don’t take lightly to serve the people of Lenoir, Greene, and Jones counties. Whether I’m in Raleigh or back home, my focus remains the same — listening to our communities and working hard to deliver results that make a real difference.

This month’s update includes a mix of personal news, local wins, and advancements we’re making together across the district. I’m grateful for your continued trust and support, and I look forward to staying connected in the months ahead.

As always, if my office can ever be of help to you or your family, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

At your service,

Chris Humphrey

State Representative

I'M RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION!

ree

Eastern North Carolina is my home, and I remain committed to strengthening our economy, protecting our rural communities, and improving infrastructure and flood resilience.

I’m excited to officially announce my campaign for re-election to the NC House of Representatives, seeking a fifth term to represent the great people of District 12 — Lenoir, Greene, and Jones counties.

With your continued support, I’ll keep working hard every day to deliver common-sense, results-driven leadership that puts our people first. We’ll keep moving North Carolina forward — together.

PERSONAL UPDATE ON CHRISTMAS SEASON

ree

I want to sincerely apologize for missing so many holiday events this year. I recently injured my ankle and had surgery. I’ll be off my feet for a little while, but my focus is on healing and getting back out in the community as soon as I can.

Thank you all for your prayers and understanding. Wishing everyone a safe, joyful, and blessed Christmas season. 🎄

STATE FUNDING FOR NEW WEST GREENE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

ree

I’m proud to announce that Greene County is receiving $42 million in state funding to replace West Greene Elementary School — addressing increased enrollment and ensuring our students have access to a safe, modern, and accessible learning environment.

As your state representative, I remain committed to strengthening education in eNC. A big win for Greene County families!

FAMILY REBUILDING HISTORIC HOUSE IN JONES COUNTY

ree

A piece of Jones County history is coming back to life! The David Green House, built in 1832 just outside Trenton, is being lovingly restored by sixth great-grandson David Cole and his wife, Morgan. After decades of vacancy, they're preserving original features like the hardwood floors, fireplaces, and trim work while carefully updating it for modern living.

Their dedication is a powerful reminder of the importance of honoring our past while building for the future. Congratulations to the Cole family on this incredible labor of love!

CHAMPIONING PRO-JOBS POLICIES

ree

I’m honored to be named a 2025 Jobs Champion by the North Carolina Chamber. Eastern North Carolina deserves a strong economy, reliable infrastructure, and a state that welcomes good-paying jobs for our residents.

I’ll keep working every day to make sure our region remains competitive and full of opportunity for this generation and the next.

CONGRATULATIONS, GREENE COUNTY COMMISSIONER BURRESS!

ree

Congratulations to Greene County Commissioner Derek Burress on his election as Chairman of the NC State Rehabilitation Council. A few years back, I submitted his name to then-Speaker Tim Moore for appointment to the council, knowing Derek would serve with leadership and dedication to improving opportunities for individuals with disabilities. I’m proud to ensure Greene County has a voice on this board.

HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY, MR. QUINN!

ree

Happy 100th Birthday to Mr. Thurston Quinn! 🇺🇸

It was a true honor to recognize this remarkable WWII veteran with a North Carolina flag in celebration of his century of life and service. Mr. Quinn’s legacy is one of courage, dedication, and enduring patriotism.

Thank you, Mr. Quinn, for your service to our great nation — and may God bless you in this milestone year!
