Dear Neighbor,

It’s been a busy and productive summer in Eastern North Carolina and in Raleigh. In July, we overrode eight of Governor Stein’s vetoes — protecting your freedoms, supporting law enforcement, and delivering the kind of common-sense results that folks in our communities expect.

Back home, I’ve had the chance to connect with many of you — from celebrating our 10U Girls All-Star Softball State Champions, to joining Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for their inspiring God and Country service. Moments like these serve as a reminder of why I'm so proud to serve you in the NC House.

I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read through this month’s updates. As always, if my office can assist you or your family, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

At your service,

Chris Humphrey

State Representative

VETO OVERRIDE VOTES

I’m proud to have joined my NC House colleagues to override 8 of Governor Stein’s vetoes in July:

🔐 SB 416 – Personal Privacy Protection Act

SB 266 – Power Bill Reduction Act

📚 SB 254 – Charter School Changes

👩‍👧‍👦 HB 805 – Prevent Sexual Exploitation of Women & Minors

🔍 HB 549 – Clarify State Auditor Powers

💰 HB 402 – Limit Rules with Big Costs

🚔 HB 318 – Criminal Illegal-Alien Enforcement Act

🇺🇸 HB 193 – Firearm Law Revisions

Eastern North Carolina asked for action — and the NC House delivered.

NC HOUSE PAGE: MY NIECE, ANNA!

We had a very special day at the NC General Assembly with my niece Anna and sister Tara visiting. Anna had the distinct honor of serving as a House Page for Representative Jeff McNeely — a proud moment for our family!

GREENE COUNTY LICENSE PLATE AGENCY

Greene County friends — DMV services are now a lot closer to home!

On July 21, a new License Plate Agency opened at 415 U.S. 13 South, Suite C (Laney Wood Place, Snow Hill) — offering tags, titles, renewals, replacement plates, handicap placards & more.

I’m proud to have supported the return of this DMV service to our community.

CONGRATULATIONS, STATE CHAMPIONS! 🥎

A huge congratulations to the Kinston/Lenoir County 10U Girls All-Star Softball Team for bringing home the State Championship with a 6-1 win over Pembroke!

Even more impressive, these young athletes also earned the Sportsmanship Award, showing heart, hustle, and class both on and off the field.

We are so proud of you — you’ve made Eastern North Carolina shine!

JONES COUNTY HERITAGE FESTIVAL PARADE

The Jones County Heritage Festival Parade is coming up soon! Join us on Saturday, September 27, 2025, to celebrate Jones County's rich history and community spirit.

The parade is a great way for businesses, bands, farmers, and local organizations to showcase what makes Eastern North Carolina special.

Don’t miss out — register your group today: jcheritagefestival.com/parade

I look forward to seeing everyone there supporting our community! 🇺🇸

FOR GOD AND COUNTRY — MT. CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH

It was an honor to be at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for the God and Country 2025 service, standing alongside fellow elected officials to recognize the brave men and women who protect and serve us every day.

I’m proud to represent the people of Eastern North Carolina — and I will always stand in support of our men and women in uniform.

WE'RE #1 IN BUSINESS — AGAIN! 🏆

North Carolina has once again been named America’s Top State for Business by CNBC! 🏆

This recognition is driven by a strong economy, skilled workforce, and sound legislative leadership. I’m proud to serve in the NC General Assembly, where we prioritize fiscal responsibility, workforce development, and flood-resilient infrastructure — especially for Eastern NC.

The best is yet to come!

NC DRIVER LICENSE EXTENSIONS

ATTENTION NC DRIVERS 🚨 Under Senate Bill 391, passed by the NCGA, Class C regular driver’s licenses will stay valid for up to two years after expiration — so long as they aren’t suspended or revoked.

This temporary extension, effective through Dec. 31, 2027, helps address DMV backlogs and keeps folks on the road. 🚙 🪪
